Each year, the WLDEF board awards scholarships for post-secondary educational opportunities for persons pursuing a career that centers on or supports the lumber and building materials industry, the building trades or small business management.

Scholarship Information & Eligibility
WLDEF will be awarding one-year scholarships of up to $4,000 for the 2027-2028 school year.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a resident of Wisconsin or Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
- Be enrolling in an educational program that focuses on or supports the lumber and building materials industry, building trades, or small business management.
- Be attending an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical program.
- Have earned, or be on track to earn, a high school diploma or equivalent by August 1, 2027.
The amount of the scholarship award is determined by the Scholarship Committee based on the length and overall cost of the educational program.
Scholarship Payment Details
Scholarships for programs spanning two semesters will be paid in two installments: 50% for the fall semester and 50% for the spring semester.
- The spring semester payment is contingent upon the student earning passing grades during the fall semester.
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the school after enrollment has been verified.
- Awards must be applied toward tuition, tools/supplies, room, and board.
Application Deadline & Notification
- All applications and supporting materials must be postmarked by March 1, 2027, to be considered.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified in April 2027.
- Previous applicants are welcome to reapply!
